Our little overnight get away. In Port Ludlow.

This past July for my 40th birthday I wanted to do a small over night. A overnight no more then 30 minutes from Poulsbo. I didn't want anything to special a tub and a small view of the water from our room.
I called a few days prior to my birthday and Stacy at the Inn at Portludlow a beautiful boutique style that has 35 guest rooms and two suites. In case you want to show up on your own boat you should know there is a 300-slip marina. The inn has boasting rights with their very own championship 18-hole golf course.  They also have some fun things to do for the nature lovers you can kayak or paddle board into the bay and explore the twin islands. Hike or bike some of the 26+ miles of trails allowing you to explore magical views and the abundant wildlife in their back yard of the Inn.

As we were sitting on our hotel rooms back deck soaking in the warm July sun the two of us were able to sit back and relax while being entertained watching the T-37 sale boats racing each other.  Drinking the complementary cider from Finnriver a sweet and eclectic family owned farm with a cider/wine tasting hub in the heart of Chimacum, Washington. It is just a short 10 to 20 minute drive up the Beaver Valley Road.  We truly loved how flavorful and crisp the non alcoholic cider had, and are very excited to plan a date where we can go to Finnriver enjoy all the things they have to offer.

We decided to go on a little drive so I could take some pictures of a Barn on the Egg and I road name after a little book that even turned into a motion picture The Egg and I written by Betty McDonald 1945, a memoir of Betty's life in her Olympic Peninsula adventures on her chicken farm.  This is just one book in the series that she wrote and for those of you who know Ma and Pa Kettle were in these books.
The Inn staff and management truly make the inn feel like home. Where the small touches like the cider, bath salts waiting for me in the bathroom down to extra blankets and pillows it was down to the detail that made this over night simply perfection.
They have a restaurant called the fireside right inside the down stairs. They have a menu for room service ( You do need to walk down and get your order.) Then a menu for dinning in the Fireside. The views are breathe taking and the food was on point, farm to table. They source local accommodations and get the high quality food they present. Of course we did their happy hour ( This is something they do daily.) He had Chef Dan's Mac and Cheese and I had the Ludlow Cobb and we shared had brunch the next morning.

Take my advice and book your stay with the Inn and Port Ludlow for a relaxing vacation. You won't be sorry if you do! This is the place to go kick up your feet and just unwind and relax.
